Odisha girls win 2 titles in Sepak-takraw Junior Nationals

Host Odisha won titles in girls regu and doubles categories of the 19th Junior National Sepak-takraw Championship, which concluded here at Stewart School campus today. But Manipur asserted supremacy in the four-day championship, bagging three out of six titles.

Manipur emerged champions in boys’ team, regu and girls’ regu events. The remaining one title was secured by Mizoram in boys’ doubles event. Manipur boy E Rishikanta Singh and Odisha girl Tulasi Behera were adjudged the best upcoming players of the championship.

The four-day championship, which involved a budget of around Rs 25 lakh, was organized by Bhubaneswar Sepak-takraw Association, under the aegis of Odisha State Sepak Takraw Association.

Boys team event:
Manipur beat Nagaland 3-0, Odisha beat Telangana 3-0, Delhi beat Karanataka 2-1, Odisha drew with Kerla 2-1 (21-16, 21-23, 21-23; 21-8, 21-10; 21-7, 21-14). Semifinals: Delhi beat Odisha (21-16, 21-13; 21-16, 23-21). Manipur beat Kerala 2-0. Odisha beat Telengana-B 3-0 (21-13, 21-12; 21-7, 21-12; 21-9, 21-7). Final: Manipur beat Delhi 2-1.
Boys regu event: Final: Manipur beat Nagaland.
Boys doubles event: Final: Mizoram beat Rajasthan
Girls team event: Delhi beat Karnataka 3-0, Odisha beat Rajasthan 3-0. Final: Manipur beat Odisha in 2-0.
Girls regu event: Odisha beat Telengana 2-0. Quarterfinals: Odisha beat Delhi 2-0. Final: Odisha beat Manipur.
